We Salute the Major Donors of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of SE Michigan

Sam’s Clubs of Southeast Michigan
www.walmartfoundation.org

Collectively, the stores in metro-Detroit, southeastern Michigan, raised over $10,495 for the Detroit Ronald McDonald House! Each store donated from $500 to $1,500. They topped their charitable efforts in mid-summer when the House was low of food and paper supplies, by hosting a canned food/house supply drive. They collected several large boxes of food, to the point where some of it had to be stored in the POD outside of the house!

Detroit Pistons

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southeastern Michigan (the House) was recently chosen to be the recipient of a Detroit Pistons Live, Learn and Play Center. This will be the 17th renovation the Pistons and Shock will complete as part of NBA Cares and Read to Achieve. The children's playroom was transformed into a 'mini-Piston's basketball court' adorned with reading and educational materials, a Nintendo Wii to be played on a miniature "Palacevision," new paint and wood flooring, as well as many other exciting Pistons enhancements!

Members of the Pistons, their wives, employees of Palace Sports and Entertainment, Pistons mascot Hooper and members of Automotion prepared and served a special meal for the families and children at the December, holiday party. The Pistons also provided toys for all of the children at the House.

Aviator Ball Presented by the McDonald Owner/Operators of Southeastern Michigan
www.aviatorsball.com

The Aviators' Ball - an upscale fundraising celebration to benefit the Ronald McDonald Houses in Detroit and Ann Arbor - took place at the Henry Ford Museum – the History of Aviation area. The event raised much needed funds to contribute to the excellent work that each of the Houses (Detroit and Ann Arbor) do to provide positive environments for families of children who are ill and undergoing serious treatment.

The McDonald Owner/Operators are grateful to the growing list of Sponsors that have committed to underwriting the Aviators' Ball. Sponsorship opportunities ranged from "Pilot," "Co-Pilot," "Navigator," "Flight Crew" and "Passenger" levels, as well as gifts in-kind, program advertisements and auction item donations.

The event had close to 500 guests and netted close to $93,360.33 for EACH House!

We salute the McDonald Owner/Operators for hosting this party and raising funds for the Houses!

Employees of Trott and Trott, a law firm in Farmington Hills, spent most of the summer raising funds and securing sponsors for their annual charity barbeque. This year, their charity of choice was the Ronald McDonald House.

On a fun-filled August afternoon, the entire staff at Trott and Trott, competed in games, participated in raffles, sang karaoke and ate an amazing barbeque all for our great cause. The day ended with a check presentation of $7,822! We salute the employees of Trott and Trott!

PODS

The House finally has extra storage! Through the IAHSP project, Tim Turczyn was contacted and personally delivered a POD to the House during the lobby/front office renovation period. The storage unit will help keep decorations and other materials safely stored at the House for seasonal use.

Mr. Turczyn has a special place in his heart for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, having been involved at the New York House. We salute Tim Turczyn and PODS!

Children’s Charity Ball

This year the Friends of Children Charity Ball raised over $62,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southeast Michigan. The committee (Silvia and Paul DePalma, chairpersons, and members, Gino and Nancy Perri, Lori and Marty Testasecca, Sandra and Silvio Savo) worked the entire year, collecting auction items and new attendees for the event. With this year’s results, the group has more than doubled the net revenue since its inception four years ago! This is a record high for any annual event at the House!

This year the event will be held on Saturday, November 8th at the Laurel Manor.
