UPDATE: Unveiling nearing for Detroit Pistons Live, Learn and Play Center at RMH/Detroit

We're getting closer to the public 'unveiling' of the new Live, Learn and Play Center at RMH/Detroit, and we owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Detroit Pistons, who, incidentally, are looking pretty darn good early in the season with an 11-5 record as of 12/4/2007.

The recent progress on the center is documented on the Pistons site: http://www.nba.com/pistons/community/mcdonald_071204.html

Pistons Live Learn and Play Center Comes to the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit!

RMH Friends, Board, PR Firms, Family and Associates!

Be sure to check out the GREAT website below ~ talking about our new 'Pistons Live, Learn and Play' Center - in the middle - stages of construction!  This project is NEAR and DEAR to our heart, as that playroom is one of the central parts of our House ~ the children LOVE it!!!

Many thanks to our President, John O'Reilly and the entire Pistons Foundation Team for choosing our House to be the recipient of this awesome donation!

Food Pantry crisis!

Whether you are a past, present of current friend of the House, we need your help.

The food pantry is at an ALL-TIME LOW. We will probably have enough 'community' food for another 2-3 weeks at best.

Those of you who are involved in church groups, civic clubs or other agencies that are looking for a GREAT SERVICE PROJECT, this would be a GREAT time to suggest a 'RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE FOOD DRIVE'

There was only one other time that our food pantry was this low - right after Hurricane Katrina. Summer, historically, has been a tougher time for us to receive donations of food...but this year has been the worst ever.

If you have the means to bring a bag of non-perishable foods to the House, we could fill-up the shelves until the fall (when food donations pick-up again).

Thanks again and please keep us in mind.

About RMH / Detroit

Ronald McDonald House of Detroit, providing a home-away-from home and support services to parents with hospitalized children, opened November of 1979 in the Detroit Medical Center adjacent to Children's Hospital of Michigan. For more information about staying at the house and our accommodations and services, please click on Staying Here.

The Detroit House was built in 1979, and is owned and operated by a non-profit Board comprised of leaders of the community, residents and representatives of McDonald's restaurants.

Eighty-five percent of the home's funding depends on continued generosity of individuals and businesses. The affiliation with Ronald McDonald House Charities and McDonald's continues to contribute about 15 percent of the cost of operating the house.
